tngCalendar.php

Thanks to CJ Niemira

Firstly can I say thanks to CJ Niemira for writing this script. I have only tinkered with it!

What is tngCalendar

tngCalendar is a web calendar addon to Darrin Lythgoe's excellent The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding © ("TNG") software. Both are written in PHP.

This is an updated version of the original tngCalendar.php script written by CJ Niemira and detailed on the http://www.tngforum.us/index.php?showtopic=779 website.

My Updates

15 Nov 2006 updated the script to (which can be seen here in operation)

  • Ability to select an individual tree to be shown.
  • All events for a month that don't have a specific day set are displayed beneath the calendar.
  • Links to quickly step forward or backwards one month.

To fix - On some month/tree updates the display options will be reset
These are also listed on http://www.tngforum.us/index.php?showtopic=779&st=80&gopid=8015&

    10 Nov 2006 - updated the script

  • as described in the above forum (as detailed in http://www.tngforum.us/index.php?s=&showtopic=779&view=findpost&p=6271)
  • I have also updated the script to make christenings and burials optional extras
  • The latest mod is to show the event year on the mouse event (note currently this could be a security issue as all dates are shown regardless of your security settings)

    General Installation Help

The main guides and helps are kindly provided CJ Niemira on his website http://siege.org/projects/tngCalendar/. My file simply replaces his version of tngcalendar.php

download my version of tngCalendar (it will need unzipping)

This zip file also contains the missing two icons (for christenings and burials) that need to be copied to the same place as the icons in the origianl download from cniemira

I have found it easier to place the file in the main tng directory. You can then decide where to put the icons, but my version of the script as it stands expects to see them in the main tng folder. This can be changed in the script, as can the default value for the events to include.
