| Headstones |
 | 1839 James & Mary Oliver The headstone has been broken, and moved. Luckily the Flitwick Monumental Inscriptions records the headstone as it was intended to be. It is still possible to make out some letters/words so this is the correct headstone. It's location is shown in the MI and graveyard map held at BLARS.
From MI:
In Memory of Mary Oliver, wife of James Oliver of Flitwick Warren Farm, who departed this life on the 3rd June 1839 aged 64.
'The dear delights we here enjoy
And fondly call our own
Are but short favours borrow'd now
To be repaid anon.
'Tis God that lifts our comforts high
Or sinks them in the grave.
He gives, and blessed be his name,
He takes but what He gave.'
Also of James Oliver, who departed this life 8 February 1844 aged 85 years. Status: Located |

 | 1844 James Oliver Will The will of James Oliver - dated 27 Jan 1844 (under two weeks before he died) and proved on 13 June 1844.
James left no family of his own, but over 5 sheets of original writing, the will details his neices and nephews, and his land in the Counties of Bedford and Hertford.
The family details James recorded have been invaluable in piecing together the Oliver Family. |
