| Notes |
- He was a Revolutionary Soldier and a prosperous farmer, owned negroes,
and bred fine horses. For his services in the Revolution he received a
pension for several years before his death. His declaration for a
pension on file in the U.S. Pension Office, Washington, D.C. contains an
interesting account of the campaigns and battles in which he
participated. He was born, lived, and died in Rowan, now Iredell
County, N.C. and is buried at Hamptonville, N.C. His brother Lindsay
Carson was the father of Christopher (Kit) Carson, the famous guide and
scout.
